Happy Day to you – I hope you like some of the newest features here including stories, photographs and videos from around the web and soon video news updates from yours truly. Here is where we talk about money, news, health and fitness with the hope of informing, entertaining and inspiring. It’s not complicated. Maybe some conversations with newsmakers, trainers, fitness buffs. If you’d like some exposure, it’s also an advertising opportunity for you in the form of a feature story. Tell me about your work or workout, regardless of where you are on your path. Remember, it’s not perfection it’s progress we care about. I will only make you look and feel good here. That’s what this website is about – look good, feel good, be good. Additional funding, of course, will allow for development of all features on this page. If you’re seriously interested in helping develop ”Buff and Beans” with its proposed “netFIT News” membership section, send me an email, let’s work together. Additional advertising opportunities are available for sponsors, which you can also do so in the name of your favorite charity. That way, everybody wins.
I fell in love with this piece from Tom Brokaw, one great journalist blessed with pipes not many of us have. In this piece, however, it’s not his pipes, it’s the writing, sheer load of facts, the cinematography, the soundtrack, the emotion captured here which inspires as some of the best television and journalism have to offer. No wonder it’s become a surprise hit on the web.
IT IS TIME FOR GROUND ZERO, THE MEMORIAL AND THE MUSEUM TO BE BUILT. I agree with published reports, Port Authority needs to get out of the way. Private development would have it done by now and can make great strides toward that effort if the PA steps aside. Pay particular attention to CBS’s Scott Pelley’s report. Let Mayor Mike have at it. He’ll get it done.
The skin tight black one piece is back? Mine never left. I happened to be wearing it today, as i often do, under jeans and sweaters for comfort, warmth, ease. I think I need a new one.
Ouch. This Olympian lost half a million dollars and a gold medal because of a COACH’S simple mistake.
Again? My cross-country skiwear does not want to be put away. I wear it every time there is a storm, which is often these days. I wear it as I ride my bicycle, even in the snowy weather though I should be using studded snow tires on my mountain bike in this type of weather. If you do ride in the snow, remember roads around the city are most dangerous in the snow-packed intersections, or on the Brooklyn Bridge, as I found out on New Year’s Eve, riding to see a midnight gospel music performance.
In a split second, heading up the long incline, tires lost traction, slipped right out from under me. I was down so fast, hitting the bridge surface hard on one knee. A few stopped to help but my knee just needed a minute or two to get out of shock and start working again. A fairly quick recovery from the wipeout in the snow and slush, luckily no serious injuries, just a bruised kneecap, a little swelling for a week or two, never had to stop riding.
I use my bicycle as transportation around town. It works wonders for great cardio, heart health and works like a charm in a city too crowded with cars. You see so much _almost ran over Elitot Spitzer hailing a cab_ there’s no parking problems, no need to go underground and sometimes even catch an interesting scent - like restaurant flavors, occasionally one you might not want – while on a bicycle, including the scent of alcohol wafting off of partiers pouring out of bars, standing on streetcorners on New Year’s eve.
I’d rather be riding my bike any night.
Have a great day, night and don’t forget to exercise your mind, body and spirit every day.
